Ys 4 Him
Hebrews 13:20-21
May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.
An article in the Oberlin Review written about Generation Y a few years ago describes those born in the late 1970s through the early 1990s in bleak terms. Among other things, it describes them as a group hopelessly immersed in a digital world, and marked by underage drinking and risky behaviors. They are portrayed as more likely to be identified with cynicism, skepticism, and pessimism in comparison to past generations.
But the Y generation at New Hope Church has its own vision – a vision that contrasts profoundly with the description of Generation Y in our culture at large. A fellowship group of college and early career aged, both singles and married couples, is gathering once a month to learn how to be disciples of Christ and bring the gospel to the needy world around them. This group is devoted to community and fellowship and to encouraging one another in the transformation of their lives into conformity with Christ.
The group meets every third Sunday of the month at 5 pm in Walkersville. All twenty-somethings (or there about) are welcome to join them. For more information or directions to the meeting place contact Ys4Him@newhopeopc.org.
